Malaysia is scouting around for countries to help green local industries.

SHAH ALAM:Malaysia is now eyeing foreign help that can give it the push it needs to green local industries.

Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, the Deputy of  International Trade and Industry Minister  said the nation was looking for countries that had successfully “greened” their industries.

“The aim here is to gain the expertise without wasting time,” he said.

In the Budget 2010 speech, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had announced the “green initiative policy”.

Mukhriz said South Korea was one nation that had a lot of experience in the area of green industries.

He said discussions were ongoing with South Korea while Malaysia still looked to explore avenues of similar nature with other countries.

“Greening industries involve creating business enterprises in recycling, water treatment, waste water and sustainable development for a better environment,” he said after officiating the opening of the A and E Global headquarters in Glenmarie here yesterday.
